In this class, you will learn how to create realistic and expressive portraits in charcoal, utilizing its broad painterly qualities. Open to all levels, this class will develop your ability to describe subtle shifts in value to create an overall glowing effect.
The instructor works with you at your own pace, offering technical and creative guidance, as you work from the live model, well-lit photographs, master copies, and plaster casts.
Each class is supplemented with a detailed lecture, demonstrations, suggested homework, as well as individual and group feedback.
Also included is a 3-hour demonstration once per month, in which a charcoal portrait drawing is created from start to finish, with the instructor explaining the process step-by-step.
